A STRONG HISTORY

For almost a quarter of a century, HCLA has made an impact here in Central Florida.  Through service and academics, we have partnered with families to raise the next generation of disciples of Jesus.

CELEBRATING 23 YEARS!

Under the direction of Pastor Paul Hoyer, Holy Cross Lutheran Academy began as a Preschool Story Time program of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lake Mary in 1984. Since then we have developed a full range of early childhood programs with classes for 2 year olds through VPK.

In 1999 we added Kindergarten and in 2001 we purchased land in Sanford to add a second campus to house another preschool program and grow an elementary program.  In 2003, Mrs. Betty Hoyer became the Director of Education and she lead HCLA through the next 16 years.  With her leadership, we added Middle School and a new Middle School building on what is now our Lower School Campus.

As our middle school grew, our parents and community encouraged us to continue to High School.  In the Spring of 2014 we purchased our Upper School Campus and moved our 5th through 8th grades there.  In the Fall of 2015 we opened our High School and graduated our first class in the Spring of 2019.  The need for a PK – 12 Christian School in the Northwest Corner of Seminole County was evident and we followed the call to meet the need.

Our recent class to graduate had several college acceptances adding several noteworthy colleges to our growing list.  UCF, FSU, UF, Seton Hall, Stetson University, Embry Riddle, UNF, Seminole State, Valencia College, Oglethorpe, University of North Carolina are included in this list.  Holy Cross Lutheran Academy is now under the leadership of Mrs. Cindy Moon and looks forward to continued growth and change as we work with the Central Florida Cross Network to change the communities on the I4 Corridor.

Holy Cross Lutheran Academy is part of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, in which Lutheran schools in the United States can be traced back to the 1600’s. Today with 2,000 schools and early childhood centers, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod operates the second largest parochial school system in the nation. Because of their nature, Lutheran schools are not in competition with public schools, but rather offer parents an alternative where there is an emphasis on educating the whole child.  While we are a Lutheran School, we are open to students of all denominations

HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH

Holy Cross Lutheran Academy is part of Central Florida Cross Network – a network of Christian churches with the shared mission of bringing Jesus to everyone by meeting the needs of the community and growing the faith of all who believe. We invite you to attend one of our network churches in your area.

Our Pastors are engaged in the lives of our students through weekly chapel, youth groups, school visits as well as counseling. HCLA partners with many of the churches’ community partners and we’d love to have you join us as we serve.
